It is time for the Milan Cortina Olympics. I am unusually unprepared for this year’s games and travelling over the next week so please forgive me in advance for a slow start to the Blog.
But as usual, leading up to any games, we have controversies about facilities being done in time (looking at you Hockey), cheating scandals (looking at you Ski Jumpers and your measurements) and new sports to try to understand (looking at you SkiMo).
There are also 2 cities hosting the games. Which I think is a more sustainable model for the future but it will be interesting to see how that plays out. Will we get the right balance of fashion and mountains?
And even though it’s only Wednesday, competition has begun. Mixed Curling double preliminary matches are going on right now. The men’s downhill training run 1 already concluded. American Ryan Cochran-Siegle had the fastest time of the day. His nickname is RCS and he won a medal in 2022 so off to a great start!
