The U.S. mixed doubles curling team of Korey Dropkin and Cory Thiesse is off to a strong start, winning their first 2 matches in round robin play. If you watched their dominant win against Switzerland, you heard a lot of backstory and commentary on their similar names. Still not sure if this was a joke or not but their coach apparently says “Boy Korey” and “Girl Cory” to help prevent confusion. And Boy Korey took Girl Cory to a restaurant to ask her to be his mixed doubles partner. They even got the Restaurant Manager to chime in saying that is definitely a “Booth-Worthy” conversation. That will be how I judge the seriousness of all conversations in my life moving forward.
They’ve still got 7 more matches to go to see if they are one of the four teams to make it to the medal rounds but they were moving and grooving today. They are also mic’d up so you get to hear all their strategy conversations and all the Curling yells in high-def. Girl Cory and Boy Korey don’t seem to have any super unique yells but their “HARRDDD” is a solid B+.
They are playing Canada next at 3:05 AM Friday so go to bed early tonight and cheer them live. Canada is a favorite so I think this match will be a good test of Girl Cory and Boy Korey’s medal potential!
